NuTRISHus School Community Programs

The L.E.A.N. Programs® are a family of workshops developed by “America’s Pediatrician” Dr. William Sears and Exercise Physiologist, Sean Foy, MA. These educational programs utilize Dr. Sears’ simple techniques for parents and children in making nutrition fun, tasty, and easy to understand and implement. By adopting a healthy lifestyle, a child’s learning, behavior, happiness, performance, and attitude are positively impacted.

A L.E.A.N Foundation for Students

Dr.Sears’ L.E.A.N. Essentials is a fun, interactive and educational course for young people between the ages of 12 and 19 years– it’s a great step towards learning more about nutrition and healthy living for their own lives! The Program focuses on the four pillars of health:

Lifestyle-How we live
Exercise- How we move
Attitude- How we think
Nutrition- How we eat

Participants are provided the basic framework to begin moving towards healthier choices and behaviors in one short course taught by Trisha Miltimore, a Certified L.E.A.N Coach. Students learn through direct instruction and group participation. Important topics discussed include:

  • Why you should care about what you eat?
  • Traffic Light Eating
  • Why Breakfast is SO Important
  • The Skinny on Fat
  • How Much Protein is Enough?
  • Shake that THANG– How to love being ACTIVE.
  • Drink Up–Water is all the TREND.
  • Know the NO’s
  • Myth Busters
